"Bejgli is a typical Hungarian pastry served mostly during the Christmas and Easter celebrations. It is also known as ‘Beigli’ or ‘Poppy seed Roll’, as the filling paste is mostly made from poppy seed. ‘Beigli’ is derived from the German word ‘Beugen’ meaning ‘Bent’. The pastry is believed to have originated during the 14th century in the city of Bratislava, in Slovak Republic. "
